I researcher available jobs through CareerBuilder.com. I found the site easy to navigate and liked narrowing my search so I could check out NC and NJ. I may settling in NC after I marry.

The most attractive jobs required a Bachelor's Degree and experience in the field. I plan on continuing on for my Bachelor's and am apprehensive about getting into dept. Due the to economic conditions in America now, going to school seems smart because commerce is slow.

The jobs I found most interesting are:
  • Webmaster/Graphic Designer/SEO
  • Web Production Designer
  • Interactive Web Designer
  • Web Designer
  • Web Designer/Developer

I was glad to see NC has plenty of opportunities for me if I settle there. I can work independently, with a team, and have leadership skills. I still have more to learn, especially the information technology side of production. Then I will have a better chance of alleviating a situation some may need a computer technician to solve. I'd prefer to be part of a team, but with a working knowledge of the whole process to improve any aspect of production.

I would look into storyboarding as a career, but I hear film is hard to get into. I'm getting old and soft, so I won't compete like a rat in a race.

  1. oh my god! congratulations! I like that yer search was location based as well. I feel like looking at a huge database of job listings is a little overwhelming and I can get overly excited find the perfect job, only to find out the job is in Kentucky.

  2. a change of location can sometimes be the best thing for a creative person!

going where there is less competition is also helpful! I'm glad this initial search went well.

  3. also just thinking - NC has a bunch of game studios there. If instead of focusing on Web design, you instead focus on User Interfaces (UI) you may be able to get into that field easily! Game design studios always need UI designers and they usually get paid really well!
